Posting every day during the month of April (except Sundays), the challenge is to write my way through the alphabet.
I is for Ideas...
Invest in your ideas.
Ignore the internal editor. An insecure introvert at best, its identity, its very itinerary, is to instigate, induce, and impair. It will impress upon you that your ideas are irrational, irresponsible and inadequate. The implication is, and always will be, that you are an imposter.
Invest in your imagination. Indulge in your instinct.
You and your ideas are interesting, inspiring and imaginative. Improve on them and their imagery. Insist on being industrious.
Impale the idiot. It is inefficient…and an illusion.
Leave a comment and your name will be entered to win e-book copies of both Defending Glory and Frank, Incense and Muriel. winner will be announced in early May. The more times you comment, the more chances to win!

Anne,
ReplyDeleteI'm not an imposter. I'm an innovator.
My idiot is like a movie monster, I impale him and impale him but he keep coming back to life...

Moody Writing
Ideas and imagination are what make a writer interesting. I will take your advice and ignore my inner editor!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteMy internal editor is gagged, tied up and hanging by the toes until I am ready to let him out for edits.
While I'm drafting, he doesn't get a say.
:-D
So many inventive insights for the letter "I". Thanks for the great post and also for the comments on my blog!

Ah, Lindsay, I know you're an innovator! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd like you, Mooderino, my inner critique is impervious to death.
Gail and Misha, however, seem to have a handle on the beast.
And Monti, you are SO welcome!
Wow, impressed with all your I words! I love 'impale the idiot'. Great advice.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great post. I feel like an intellectual just from reading it! How could I have forgotten about the word "idiot"? Now, I feel like an ignoramus! lol
ReplyDeleteMy turn to lol, Darlene. How could I have forgotten about the word "ignoramus"? Now, I feel like an idiot! ;-)

ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda! Thanks so much for the smile! :)
ReplyDeleteMy inner editor works overtime. I can't stop her. But.. I can work on ideas and imaginings and the editing can be done along with it. It has to work that way. They are the Twin Sisters, "Write" and "Rewrite" and they are joined at the pencil.
ReplyDeleteWrite and Rewrite...well said, Jeanne. Thanks for dropping by.
