I tend to be a control freak when it comes to projects near and dear to my heart.
Take my website for instance. Sure, I could have hired someone to set it up for me, but the idea of contacting that person every single time I wanted to add, delete, or change something, and then wait for them to actually get it done, left me cold. Besides, by that time, (anything longer than 60 seconds), I could have changed my mind again!
Despite being an author, verbally communicating my feelings, wants and desires in a coherent fashion does not come naturally to me. I start off gung-ho on one thread of thought, veer off to another mid-stream, and often stop mid-sentence while another idea comes to mind. Friends and family patiently wait for me to get it together, but a web designer might not be so accommodating.
Hence, the decision to tackle the job myself.
