FACEBOOK USERS TO NAME BABY

Naming a fictional character is hard work. Ask any author and they'll admit it's not just about the name. It's about adding another dimension or layer to who that character really is.

Done well, it can mean the difference between a so-so character and one that walks off the pages. Think Hanibal Lector versus Jane Marple. One good. One bad. Both larger than life.

Naming one's child is equally demanding. A given name can either enhance one's life or make it miserable as the lyrics of Johnny Cash's song "A Boy Named Sue" suggest.

Being a mother and author, I can't imagine leaving such an important task to a stranger. But one woman is doing just that. She's turned it over to Facebook users. She'll pick the name that receives the most votes.

Want to add your own name to list? Better hurry, the baby is due December 4.

  1. With a new granddaughter of my own expected next spring, of course baby names are already a hot topic in our family. Nope, couldn't leave that process in the hands of Facebook votes!!!

BTW, Anne, thanks for being a Seekerville follower!
